Overview

Nestled along the scenic banks of the Adige River in Verona, Trattoria Fluviale Vecio Mulin offers an authentic taste of country Italian cuisine in a setting that marries rustic charm with breathtaking views. Located at Via Sottoriva, 42/A, this restaurant brings the tradition of Veneto’s riverside dining to life, creating an experience that appeals both to locals and travelers seeking genuine regional flavors.

The menu is a celebration of fresh, local ingredients and expertly crafted dishes. Highlights include Pasta with Crabs and Muscles, a harmonious blend of sea flavors that delights with every bite, and Il Riso De Le Feste, a festive risotto that embodies comfort and celebration. Seafood lovers will find the Gran Gratinato Di Crostacei irresistible, while adventurous palates are rewarded with the striking Linguine Al Nero Di Seppia Con Tartare Di Gambero, where rich squid ink pasta meets delicate shrimp tartare.

For those looking to explore Veneto’s less common dishes, the Pastisada De Caval offers a savory slow-cooked horse meat stew, capturing the region’s culinary heritage. Pair these with traditional appetizers like the Sporta Di Fata Matilde and a fresh Antipasto Crudo Per 2 Persone to begin with, served alongside a selection of house-baked breads and carefully chosen olive oils.

The dining experience is elevated not only by the quality of the food but also through attentive, heartfelt service. Diners appreciate the thoughtful touches—from being promptly seated even during busy hours to the special bibs provided to protect clothing while enjoying delicate seafood dishes. Patrons often mention the friendly atmosphere that makes every visit a personal occasion, whether it’s a romantic anniversary or a casual meal with friends.

The space itself balances intimacy and openness: tables arranged to offer panoramic views of the river and Castel San Pietro create a magical backdrop, especially at sunset. This makes it an excellent choice for couples, food enthusiasts, and travelers who want to soak in Verona’s charm while savoring traditional country fare.

Regular guests praise the consistency of the culinary craftsmanship, emphasizing the freshness of the seafood and the perfectly executed homemade pastas. The experience is rounded out with a glass of local wine or a sip of limoncello, a subtle nod to the region’s rich gastronomic traditions.

In sum, Trattoria Fluviale Vecio Mulin stands out as a culinary gem in Verona. It captures the essence of country cooking with a refined yet unpretentious approach, all set against a stunning riverside panorama. Whether you’re seeking a taste of Veneto’s classic dishes or an intimate dining experience infused with local warmth, this trattoria delivers with poise and passion.

This restaurant is probably our number one pick in Verona during our short stay. (Of course, we didn’t manage to try all the restaurants, but out of several top-rated ones we did visit, this one clearly stands out as the best.) We arrived for a late dinner around 8 PM and were seated immediately without any wait. The service was excellent from the start — we were offered a lovely bread selection with olive oil, along with complimentary water. I ordered the tuna tartare, while my partner chose the shrimp tartare. For the main course, I had the black pasta, and my partner opted for seafood pasta. Everything was absolutely delicious. The tuna tartare, in particular, was one of the best I’ve ever had anywhere in the world — easily among the top tartares I’ve tasted throughout my extensive travels. The pasta was also exceptional — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. As a thoughtful touch, the waiters tied special bibs around our necks to protect our clothing, which was such a kind and attentive gesture. The view from the restaurant is simply stunning — it’s worth coming here just to enjoy a glass of good wine with that breathtaking scenery. To finish, we were served a delicious limoncello. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome and wonderful experience!

A table with a wonderful view on the Adige river creates a romantic setting. The typical veronese dishes Risotto all’amarone and Pastissada de caval are good but not memorable. The risotto is clearly reheated as it was served minutes after ordering and slightly overcooked. The flavor was nice anyway. Good portions and attentive service.
